Emma Geyer of Liverpool Named Outstanding Senior Athlete

2018 May 18

OSWEGO, N.Y. - The Oswego State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics selected Emma Geyer of Liverpool as its Outstanding Senior Athlete. Emma Geyer of the women's soccer team and Mitch Herlihey of the men's ice hockey team earned the honors.

Geyer, the Outstanding Senior Female Athlete, appeared in 65 games as a Laker, starting in every one of those contests. In each of her four years, the senior earned All-Conference recognition, highlighted by a First Team nod during her junior campaign. During two of her four seasons, Geyer led the Lakers in total points. The Liverpool, N.Y. native finished her career with 41 points scored, coming on 16 goals and nine assists. Six of her 16 goals were the game-winning goals in those particular contests. Geyer helped guide Oswego to two SUNYAC Championship appearances, including a semifinal showing in 2015.

Herlihey, the Outstanding Senior Male Athlete, has played in over 100 games as a Laker. During that time, the senior averaged more than a point per game, finishing his career with 103 points on 38 goals and 65 assists. A two-time PathFinder Bank Classic tournament Most Valuable Player, Herlihey helped lead the Lakers to two NCAA Championship appearances, back-to-back regular season SUNYAC crowns and four SUNYAC Championship appearances. For his efforts during his senior season, the Ottawa, Ont. native earned the league's Herb Hammond Player of the Year award and was later named a Second Team All-American by the American Hockey Coaches Association.

The Outstanding Senior Athlete awards are based on the seniors' entire Laker careers and are solely focused on their individual athletic achievements with Oswego.
